Research in
The Department of Chemical Engineering
The
Department of Chemical Engineering is part of the single
campus
Faculty of Engineering
with a commitment to providing national and regional service
to the process industries. These industries include the
full spectrum available in the Caribbean including petroleum
and petrochemicals, bauxite, sugar and food-processing.
The Units of Food Science & Technology and Petroleum
Engineering are included in the Department of Chemical
Engineering with specific remits to serve those industries.
The Department recognises
the need to promote industrial linkages, applied research,
fundamental research and the continuing education of persons
in the relevant disciplines. The research efforts are essentially
geared to the solving of problems relevant to the region
as a whole.
Research in the Department
of Chemical Engineering is aimed at the development of
the indigenous resources of the Caribbean region. The broad
areas of research in the Department are as follows:
* Agricultural
Crop Processing
* Enhanced
Oil Recovery
* Food Science & Technology
* Heavy Oil
Recovery
* Industrial
Pollution Control
* Mineral
Processing
* Natural
Gas Engineering
* Petroleum
