Informal collaboration between the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (DECE), UWI, and Dr. Anil Kokaram at Trinity College, Dublin (TCD), was established in 1999. This collaboration seeks to achieve the following objectives:
- To stimulate regional research, development and entrepreneurial activities in the area of Visual Media Processing and its enabling technologies
- To motivate graduates to pursue postgraduate study
- To generate a critical mass of skilled human resources to service the needs of the Department and Caribbean region
