Imagine Cup 2010

For the 2010 Competition, Microsoft Trinidad and Tobago is pleased to sponsor for the first time a local Imagine Cup final that will guarantee a place at the international finals for a local team. The theme for this year is “Imagine a world where technology helps solve the toughest problems facing us today.”

Competitors are encouraged to focus on challenges that face us as a country or even our region (Caricom territory).

Imagine Cup 2009

On 1st March 2009, students of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, The University of the West Indies, St. Augustine, entered the Microsoft Imagine Cup 2009 competition under the Embedded Systems Development category. Hosted annually by Microsoft Corporation, the Imagine Cup tests student innovation and engineering creativity internationally. Following this year's theme, "Imagine a world where technology helps to solve the toughest problems facing us today", the students designed and submitted a Portable Water Purification System (PPS) for use in areas where clean drinking water is scarce. On March 20th, subsequent to first round judging, these students advanced to the semi-final round of the competition. This is a first time accomplishment for Trinidad.
