There is a common confusion and misconception of what industrial engineering really represents. This site hopes to encompass all that an 'Industrial engineer' embodies.

An 'Industrial Engineer' is synonymous with systems integrator - a big-picture thinker, in other words. It's an employee who takes what exists today and conceptualizes what should exist in the future.Industrial engineers are the only engineering professionals trained as productivity and quality improvement specialists.An Industrial engineer looks at a chaos, and has a vision of order.
Today UWI Industrial Engineering Alumni, enjoy employment and practice in many prominent industries including, Beverage, Transportation (air, land and sea), Construction, Manufacturing, Mining, Oil and Gas, Steel Fabrication, Finance, Information and Technology among many others. These granduands have displayed dremendous calibre in becoming well rounded CEO's, Unit Managers, Consusltants and the like.

The Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at The University of the West Indies (UWI) has been offering IE programmes in both undergraduate and postgraduates levels and has produced hundreds of graduates since 1970s.
Presently, we have a BSc (Eng) in Industrial Engineering in line with two other BSc (Eng) programmes in Mechanical Engineering and with Biosystems option.
The BSc (Eng) IE programme is a three-year degree course accredited by The Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), UK that allows IE graduates to become chartered/registered engineers.
